Hair from dark brown to blond?

Can I dye my hair from dark brown to blond without bleaching it, because I don't want to damage my hair, but I want it to be blond.

You can go blonde, but you may have to be satisfied with a darker blonde with lighter highlites. The darker blonde can be achieved with high lift color and a toner to get rid of any unwanted reddish or goldish highlites from the bleaching affect of the high lift blonde, then they can do some foils with bleach, or a similar product, and add some lighter blondes. I like this idea, because it looks most natural. But go to a reputable salon....ask someone who goes to a salon for light color and looks great to reccomend their stylist/colorist to you. And tip well, at least 20 % if you really love it because it is time consuming to the stylist/colorist, and their they deserve it. Stylists make their livings much like waitresses, on their tips.

it has to be bleached go to a salon it will be less damaging if they do it and it will not turn out orange like it will if you try to do it yourself

I'm afraid you can only dye it blond by bleaching it I'm afraid. I know it's disappointing lol! But why don't you keep it brunettee? Smokey brunette is seriously in this year!

Yes, definetly. My brother just started playing baseball in the sun, and his dark, dark brown hair literally turned blond! Not all of it, because baseball season is only a couple of months, but it was awesome when his hair turned a completkley different color. Also the sun in many places like california has can turn your hair lighter. Sometimes, pu hair conditioner onto your hair, then go out in the sun. It makes it turn lighter faster.Maybe you dont want to play baseball, but sunbathing would definetly help also

I am not a hair dresser but I do have dark brown hair and have intermittently over the years had my hair done blonde. What works best for me is a really heavy frosting where they do bleach it down to white which is what I like and I always condition it really well and use a shampoo made specifically for treated hair. I also use a weekly conditioner called 911 that works really well. I have never had a problem with breakage and as of the past few years I flat iron my hair also being careful and using spray on oil to do so. I have always frosted my hair heavily rather than dying it blond,, I feel it looks more natural than dying it. I would imagine hair dressers would have different opinions on hair color too.
