What if you were to dye it blonde then dye it blue or red or something? Would it work like bleaching it does? Would all of the dye fry your hair?

If you are darker than the color of blonde that you want to be with color, then you have to "lift" the natural color of your hair. This can be done with bleach OR with peroxide and color combined.

If you are lighter than the color that you want to be, then you would not need to use bleach to "lift" the color, but only color and peroxide to deposit color to your hair.

Bleach is used when you (for example) have brown hair and would like to be a lighter shade... as peroxide and color can only "lift" so much.

While bleaching can damage and dry the hair, if done professionally it will be done correctly. Home bleaching jobs gone wrong can really cost big time if you need corrective coloring by a professional!

If you are wanting to color your hair with any other color, peroxide can make it work just fine. If you are wanting the color to POP and be bright, then lightening it first with bleach, then applying color would be what you do.

I don't think the red or blue dye would last as long if you didn't bleach it.

You can't dye your hair blond ...you bleach it blond. Unless you already have blond hair and want to achieve a darker shade of blond then that's called a dye job. ..and no you can't bleach your hair blond and then get strips of color put in it right away. You have to wait at least a month and a half before you put any more color in it. Bleach will destroy your hair regardless of you putting any other colors in your hair but unless you want your hair to break and fall apart... I suggest you wait a couple months before adding color after bleaching your hair.

Dying takes out the pigmentation of dark hair, leaving it 'blonde', which is really a yellow. I suggest to always bleach your hair before dying it an unatural color like pink or blue. If you just dyed it blonde, the color wouldn't be as vibrant as you want!

unless you have REALLY light hair to begin with, you'd probably have to bleach it first and then apply the color to achieve the exact color you want. so yeah, the dye is bad because you'd need to bleach. now just die alone probably isn't TOO bad, but it won't be as noticible if you havn't bleached your hair.

Hmm depends on how dark your hair is to begin with. Are u talking about coloring all of your hair blue or red? If your hair is already a shade of blonde depends on what shade of blue or red you want. If the blue or red is darker then your natural color just color it red or blue over your natural.

Best suggestion cut off a small piece of your hair underneath and experiment with it first then you will know what you need to do to your hair.

You can get dark hair blonde with a tint (dye) but only if it's natural with no colour in it already. If your hair is really dark then it won't get very blonde. It will lighten it, but only a few shades to a dark yellow. You have to use the strongest developer (40vol) with a hi-lift colour which of course is going to blast your hair and make it very dry.

The only way to get darker hair blonde is bleach which also makes your hair very dry.
