NOOOO. i also have dark brown hair and highlited it for years. one day i decided to dye the color back myself and it turned my hair a wierd greenish color. Go to a salon! And also, make sure they use hair "tint" NOT dye. the tint has a less harsh affect on hair folicles and allowes the natural color of your hair to shine through. with Dye, it makes all hairs the same dull and dark color, which does not look natural.
